Political parties and civil society groups have increased the pressure on South African President Cyril Ramaphosa , ahead of his announcement later in the day (22/03/2020) on stricter measures to combat the COVID-19 spread. In a tweet posted less than two hours ago, the Economic Freedom Fighters Commissar, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi (@mbuyiseniNdlozi) echoed how the people of South Africa are looking to not paying rentals for the next 4 months.
In addition to that, people are also expecting to be exempted from paying for rates, water, any installments and free DSTV for the next 4 months. More serious demands include a price cap on basic food items and the worldwide shortage of toilet paper and hand sanitizers.
